REAR GRIP

Grip in all conditions. Road races present different and variable conditions, and the specifications of the RACETEC RR compound have been developed to deal with all of them. The RACETEC RR compound recipe combines a selection of polymers and resins of different grades of carbon black to maximize hysteresis - even on slippery surfaces. For the REAR tire, the choice of the version is based on the asphalt friction coefficient (very severe/slightly severe, depending on the circuit or road race) and the asphalt temperature (with a maximum between 25 and 30C). The RACETEC RR rear bi-compound incorporates a conductive central strip, which supports the soft compound of the shoulders and transfers the heat generated in the long straights to this area, ensuring that the compound maintains a working temperature at all times and can grip in the next lean.

STABILITY

Precision and stability at high speeds. The RACETEC RR incorporates a composite structure, differentiated between the center and the sides of the carcass to act properly in different circumstances. Stability is critical in road races when riding through long straights at full throttle (due to aerodynamic interferences) and when the bike goes through wet areas, asphalt patches, or jumps. In these cases, stability can be lost in rebounds against the asphalt, so it is necessary for the tire to regain grip on the asphalt and work together with the shock absorbers to achieve this. The central structure is made with a special rayon fiber. This fiber is characterized by a high linear density and stiffness ratio and is capable of maintaining its shape under high stress and load. The fiber also helps dampen the rebound by dissipating the energy throughout the carcass, returning to its initial shape afterwards. The lateral structure has been designed to be rigid, with a low deformation ratio, so it can withstand the tire architecture under stress, ensuring precision in the trajectory both in long fast straights and in maximum leans.

Road races can last up to 240km (150 miles), which is more than triple the average durability of a circuit race, integrity, and consistent performance are key to winning. All compounds in the RACETEC RR range incorporate high abrasion resistance thanks to the homogeneous dispersion of components in the polymeric mix obtained through our exclusive patented mixing process. The tread grooves minimize wear and counteract the forces created by the compound, called Schallamach wear waves. The angle of the RACETEC RR grooves is the result of an analysis based on road racing activity.
